WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The 25th annual Amigos International Festival Latino is gearing up for a daylong celebration.

Lucy Vasquez, with Amigos International, was in the studio to talk more about the event.

Attendees will take part in a cross-cultural weekend of family-style fun, Latino food, music, dancing, and more.

Organizers of the festival expect an even larger crowd this year, aiming to bring residents together and share in the diverse Latino and other cultures of the Cape Fear region.

Authentic cuisines at the festival include those from Mexico, El Salvador, Cuba, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, Honduras, America, Brazil, the Philippines, China, Colombia, and Venezuela.

Live bands, singers, and Latin folklore dance groups will perform at the event, where residents can also take part in dance lessons and competitions.

Children will be able to enjoy piñatas at every hour, giant inflatable rides, carnival games, a petting zoo, prizes, and the Great Mexican Hat Race.

Exhibitors at the event include a Health and Human Service Fair, and art and crafts will be available for sale, featuring local and regional artists and craftsmen, including silversmiths and potters from Latin America.

The festival is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 9, from noon to 6 p.m. at Ogden Park.
